Director Software Engineering at Xometry

The Director of Software Engineering, will lead the teams that build the core customer quoting experience on the xometry.com website. They will drive our technology solutions to ensure that we continue to build reliable, high-performance, and secure solutions while solving complex business problems.

Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership and Talent Development: Direct and nurture the growth of the software engineering team. This includes recruiting, training, and developing high-caliber talent within North and South America.
• Hands-On Technical Leadership: Adopt a 'lead by example' approach by actively coding and troubleshooting, alongside managing team dynamics and project timelines.
• Operational Excellence: Guarantee the delivery of superior software that not only meets but exceeds customer expectations, while aligning with the strategic business timelines.
• Collaborative Strategy: Forge strong partnerships with product managers, designers, and company leadership to promote a culture of open communication and integrated team dynamics.
• Guide Innovation: Champion the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, methodologies, and practices to enhance problem-solving efficiency and effectiveness across the organization.

Qualifications:

• At least 8 years of experience in software development
• At least 4 years of experience and a proven track record leading software development teams in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.
• Experience with a marketplace product is highly desired.
• Strong technical expertise. You will need to either have or quickly build technical expertise in the following:
• Python
• Frontend web technologies including HTML/DOM/CSS, React, and Typescript.
• Cloud hosting services, especially AWS
• Containerization technologies (Docker and Kubernetes)
• Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, from executives to product managers and a wide variety of stakeholders and contributors
• Excellent leadership, execution, and communication skills
• Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder
