Kibeam is an ed-tech startup developing a completely novel, AI-enabled, hands-on technology to tackle the global literacy crisis, helping young children develop essential reading skills while nurturing a lifelong passion for reading and learning - without screens. We are seeking an experienced QA Engineer to help bring to market our innovative Kibeam Reader device.

Responsibilities:
  • Isolate, reproduce and track defects in our mobile application, database and peripheral device
  • Produce reliable bug reports that clearly identify the issue, steps to reproduce and how the product failed to meet production requirements or customer expectations
  • Perform educational content testing with validation of skill codes
  • Verify the implementation of bug fixes from development team
  • Identify and run appropriate regression tests based on bug fixes or new functionality
  • Define smoke tests for application, database and peripheral to run against all new builds verifying minimal functionality standards are met
  • Create functional test cases and test plans for new feature areas based on specifications
  • Execute and log results of functional test suites across functional areas
  • Conduct effective ad-hoc or exploratory testing
  • Work closely with development and production teams to understand product requirements, implementation in product, and to reproduce issues
  • Explore, reproduce and document issues identified by community focus testers
  • Perform ML model detection recordings for the engineering team
  • Provide support for executive level demos       


Requirements:
  • 4-5 years working as a quality assurance analyst or similar role testing mobile applications, and consumer products - ideally engineered for children
  • Experience with JIRA, TestRail, Miro boards
  • Experience with backend, database, and peripheral testing
  • Familiar with the software development lifecycle in mobile applications
  • Familiarity with quality assurance methodologies
  • Ability to clearly communicate and engage in remote work environment
  • Ability to work through ambiguity and evolving product requirements
  • Strong level of independence and efficiency with exceptional attention to detail
  • Flexibility with changing priorities and ambiguity that come in a start-up environment
  • User advocate with a passion for improving the lives of children and families

Location: Kibeam is a virtual, distributed team with close, continuous connection and support.  While we prefer candidates in the same time zone (west coast), we are much more interested in your skills and talents than where you work. You need to be able to work at home and join our full team (1-2 times per year) for in-person planning, activities, work and fun.
