Role

Synchron is seeking to appoint a Senior Clinical Scientist as integral member of its Clinical team. The Senior Clinical Scientist will apply clinical research expertise to ensure operational and scientific excellence of Synchron clinical trial research studies. As a member of the clinical science team, the employee will contribute to the development and execution of clinical science team priorities and ensure clinical science rigor throughout the company through cross functional collaboration with Synchron’s internal teams and valued collaborators.

Responsibilities 

  • Support the development of clinical trial protocols, data collection tools, and education materials.
  • Support preparation of regulatory submissions.
  • Support continuous review and analysis of clinical trial data. 
  • Contribute to clinical strategy. 
  • Support the preparation and submission of clinical study reports and manuscripts for peer review. 
  • Use subject matter expertise in clinical BCI research to perform rigorous reviews of the scientific literature and ensure up-to-date knowledge is disseminated within the company. 
  • Contribute to preparation of company presentations, ensuring scientific rigor and appropriateness for diverse stakeholders. 
  • Support study visits in the patient’s home environment
  • Prepare and deliver presentations at medical and scientific conferences.
  • Work effectively with Synchron’s internal teams (neuroscience, software, advanced tech, marketing, etc.) and provide clinical science representation on cross-functional teams and collaborations. 

Skills and Experience

Required

  • Hold an advanced degree (e.g., PhD, MD) or equal track record in a relevant field. 
  • Extensive experience in clinical research with human subjects. 
  • Excellent understanding of brain-computer interface (BCI) research. 
  • Sound grasp of needs for clinical translation of BCI. 
  • Prior experience working with patients with severe motor impairment including locked-in syndrome.
  • Sound grasp of relevant scientific disciplines for clinical BCI research including statistics, psychometrics, neuroscience, engineering, relevant medical disciplines, and others.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organization and project management skills.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams. 
  • Expertise in good clinical practice. 

Preferred  

  • Industry experience working on clinical trials of medical devices, particularly in the field of neurotechnology. 
  • Strong publication record including multiple first author publications in internationally respected scientific and/or medical journals. 

Salary Range:

$120-140k

Location:
