About the Job

As a Director of Strategic Sourcing on our External Network team within the Startup Solutions department, you will proactively engage, drive strategy in line with corporate objectives, and manage a portfolio of external vendors and freelancers to create maximum value for Startups and the Redesign Health organization. External partners will include existing contracts and relationships, as well as new contracts and relationships. The role entails vendor and freelancer identification and vetting, negotiation, and regular interaction with management from strategic, preferred, and independent suppliers, as well as internal and external customers. This also involves creating and maintaining tools and operational workflows that allow Startups and the organization to assess the quality and fitness for purpose of specific vendors for their needs.

Reporting into the Head of External Network, you will begin as an individual contributor, but should be able to manage one or more execution-oriented sourcing and program management professionals as the portfolio of suppliers grows. You will initially focus on supporting professional suppliers to Startups built at Redesign Health, with the potential to increase scope over time to cover sourcing excellence within Redesign Health.

What you’ll do:

  • Identify and maintain the optimal vendors for the needs of our startups, and eventually Redesign Health
  • Support creation and maintenance of materials to support the Startup users of vendors/freelancers, including guidance on vendor selection and processes 
  • Establish and maintain terms and conditions that are beneficial to our startups and Redesign Health
  • Develop advocacy among our startup users that they achieve better outcomes from working with you than they could have on their own

What you’ll need:

  • You have 7+ years of experience in procurement and program/project management with technology and/or marketing engagements
    • 4+ years of experience negotiating and managing sourcing engagements
    • 2+ years of experience working with freelancers and independent contractors as part of an organization using these types of resources
  • You have 2+ years of experience of people management experience
  • You have experience working as a collaborative business partner to key users of procured services
  • You have familiarity and technical competence with software, engineering, and/or marketing capabilities and terms
  • You have comprehensive knowledge of procurement policies and regulations
  • You have general knowledge of accounting, finance, and marketing
  • You have experience in healthcare or another highly regulated field

What you’ll bring to the table:

  • You have effective contract lifecycle management and negotiation skills
    • Experience successfully conducting a range of negotiations across a variety of categories and vendor sizes
    • Relationship management skills; ability to build relationships with suppliers, and contractors who provide a broad spectrum of technology and marketing products and services
  • You have effective internal stakeholder management and engagement skills, including experience developing a deep understanding of why internal customers need the products and services provided by vendors/freelancers and how they will be used
  • You have the ability to develop a supplier strategy within categories (especially engineering agencies, healthcare IT services, marketing, and/or communications)
    • Organizational supplier landscape mapping, target supplier portfolio construction, negotiation strategy, evaluation strategy, financial analytics & modeling, risk management and supplier integration/mobilization
    • Individual freelancer sourcing approach, identification, recruiting, and bench development, including analysis of the right bench size and composition to meet projected demand
  • You have the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and can work both independently and in a team-oriented environment; you take ownership of projects/categories/contracts assigned

Full-time base salary range of $150,000-225,000 plus a competitive equity & benefits package listed under the "Why work with us?" section.
