Comikey Media Inc. is a tech startup with a focus on digital comics. We've partnered with industry giants like Shogakukan, Shueisha, SQUARE ENIX, D&C Media to bring users popular manga & webtoons for all demographics from Japan, China, Korea and more. We're based in the US, but our team is distributed across many continents, with a fully remote workforce. With our decades of experience and proven track record, we aim to build an app on par with the giants of the entertainment industry. We focus primarily on the English market, but are expanding to Portuguese, Spanish, French, Indonesian and more!

Launched in 2021, our mobile app provides users with a large library of manga & webtoons that can be purchased and read. Our small but talented development team has taken the app past 100k downloads, with a cross-platform Flutter base that has grown into a fully-fledged mobile platform. We hope to continue adding major features to the app at a quick pace, as we evolve our experience to catch up and surpass our competitors, all while providing a high quality, bug-free (mostly!) experience to our users.

Comikey is seeking a Senior Flutter Developer on a full-time, contractual basis to complement and expand our development team's capacity, providing us with an abundance of knowledge and experience developing mobile apps in Flutter. You will be taking the lead, making fundamental decisions on how to develop and maintain our codebase, collaborating with our designer and other developers.

Responsibilities

• Take the lead in maintaining and improving our sizable Flutter codebase, taking on new and exciting challenges with pride!
• Implement new features at a quick pace, collaborating closely with our designer, other developers, and co-founders when necessary
• Take the lead when communicating with other developers, without the input of a senior member
  
• Address issues found either through error reporting or as reported by users, fixing bugs in a timely manner
• Strive to improve performance and functionality of our app, always finding ways to perfect the experience for users
  

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience developing mobile applications for iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin)
• Mastery of Flutter and Dart, with experience deploying apps to production
  
• Excellent knowlege and experience of using Riverpod and Flutter Hooks
• Excellent knowledge and experience of using the Firebase SDK with Flutter
  
• Well-versed in creating completely custom UI elements in Flutter, not just based on Material or Cupertino widgets
• Experience integrating in-app purchases and mobile ad SDKs (IronSource, Appsflyer, Admob) into a Flutter app
• Experience using Sentry for in-app error reporting
• Familiarity with gRPC-based (protobufs) communication with a backend service

Good to have

• A fan of manga or webtoons, that is passionate in providing an excellent reading experience to our readers
• Experience with image-heavy applications, knowing what it takes to efficiently display large amounts of images or video in a gallery format
• You have strong communication skills, and as a bonus, are fluent in any of the following languages: Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Indonesian, Thai
• Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment, where things move quickly and can change at a moment's notice
