Scary Mommy is seeking a Lifestyle Editor to produce accurate, engaging service content across a wide range of topics, including but not limited to health, parenting, relationships, beauty, style, food, education, trends, and more. The role is a fantastic opportunity for a generalist with great story ideas.  The Editor will work alongside the Deputy Lifestyle Editor to use data insights and tools to strategize future assignments for the Lifestyle vertical. The Editor will also keep a stable of high-performing content updated on a monthly and/or quarterly basis. This role will also involve conducting interviews, attending events, and reporting and writing, as determined by the site and manager needs. The ideal candidate is hyper organized, has a true team spirit, and is versatile and nimble. In this position, the Editor will brainstorm, ideate, and implement timely and evergreen assignments, using analytics and SEO tools to determine areas of opportunity for future coverage as well as high-performing evergreens. This Editor will need to thrive independently and as part of a team, juggle multiple projects, and have a proven ability to plan out and keep updated a calendar of daily stories and timely features. This position will report directly to the Deputy Lifestyle Editor. This role is ideal for someone with editing and management experience who is eager to use those skills to help grow and shape a vertical on Scary Mommy. You’ll act as coach and mentor to writers, accept and reject pitches, and be able to pinpoint sharp angles, analysis, and originality in assignments. Your ability to provide feedback should be clear, concise, and in line with overall Scary Mommy’s goals. This role can be based in New York, or remote.
