Quality & Cost Control Leader at CannonDesign

The Opportunity:

This position is ideal for a construction superintendent/project manager/estimator looking to make a career change but still be able to utilize many years of experience in the construction management field with an emerging leader in facilities management relating to the built environment.

This position can be done remotely from any city throughout the United States.

Your Responsibilities:

• Conduct reviews of 8-10 complex projects simultaneously
• Work closely with various groups including estimators, assessors, and operations managers to ensure cost, production, and quality targets are met
• Provide estimates of building current replacement value broken down by discipline from limited information, using historical data, estimating database, and experience
• Review assessment records and associated action costs to ensure accuracy and review the building’s overall current replacement value broken down by discipline.  Search out errors, omissions and potential problem areas relative to cost, coordination of deficiencies and quality of work
• Provide support and guidance to assessors through the quality review process including additional training on building materials/components, discussions of action timeframe and observed remaining life, and wording for records that clearly communicates recommendations without using prohibited terminology
• Prepare cost analysis by calculating quantities and costs of construction items for estimating projects using cost estimating software such as Sage Timberline
• Verify site specific information such as existing conditions, measurements, photo documentation, and other project specific details provided in the client’s documentation or discovered through external research
• Confirm assessor measurements and quantity for project specific system/components
• Coordinate communication and deliverable schedule with Director of Project Management with individual project manager input

Required skills and experience:

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience as a construction project manager, field engineer, site superintendent, or construction cost estimator
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
• Thorough understanding of commercial construction, building materials, cost estimating, and project management principles
• Sufficient time on construction jobsites (new and existing buildings) to recognize building materials and methods of construction from photographic documentation
• Ability to lead, influence, mentor and demonstrate good judgment
• Strong technical skills and understanding of all disciplines
• Ability to drive solid process improvement and business results
• Ability to meet with top-level client representatives and discuss complex systems and wholistic Capital Improvement Planning (CIP) strategies

If the job is to be performed in Colorado, the salary range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000 annually. This salary range is the range we believe is the anticipated range of possible base compensation at the timing of the posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the anticipated salary range for the position. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
