Automation Engineer at Bitmex

Overview

The BitMEX infrastructure team sits at the core of the business and is responsible for the reliability and scalability of all the services that power the platforms and its developers. As the BitMEX trading platform handles ten of thousands low latency transactions per second, representing several billions of dollars traded every day, we believe our production Kubernetes deployment is one of the highest value worldwide.

The global BitMEX DevOps team is responsible for the reliability and scalability of all the services that power the platform and its developers. The Automation Engineer role involves the design, development, testing, and promotion workflows around building and delivering automated infrastructure solutions. Leveraging both Jenkins, ArgoCD, Kubernetes, Chef and Terraform, the automation engineer role is part of the Ops team, but gets to work closely with the various departments at BitMEX (e.g. trading technologies, web development, QA, Compliance, Ops, etc.), assisting them with their pipelines end-to-end, ensuring safe, secure and reliable practices to improve turnover and confidence across the board.

Responsibilities

• Administrate and push forward our automation infrastructure, frameworks & tools,
• Design, implement and take ownership of new features and tools, for both the automation infrastructure and developers' needs,
• Work closely with various teams across the organization, including trading technologies, web development, QA, Compliance, Ops in order to spread automation philosophy, knowledge and best practices around our automation,

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience, with a proven track record of designing, implementing, securing and managing automation systems as code
• Demonstrable knowledge of Jenkins/Groovy, ArgoCD, Terraform, Chef, Containers/Kubernetes
• Ability to drive projects end-to-end and excel with minimal technical supervision, while embracing reliability constraints and proactiveness
• Capacity to multitask and give equal attention to a variety of functions while under pressure
• Great communication skills, Ability to communicate effectively via multiple channels (verbal, written, etc.) with technical and non-technical staff.

• Candidates with financial services experience are strongly preferred
