Job Summary

We’re looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer who has deep and broad Infrastructure experience. You’ll be working with a small team of other experienced infrastructure engineers to support our backend api. You’ll spend your time building new services on AWS, iterating on existing services, and supporting backend engineers.

Responsibilities

Empathy for our backend engineers and end users. Understanding their needs, translating them into infrastructure requirements and building solutions. Working with the other infrastructure engineers to create and refine infrastructure. Using Infrastructure as Code principles to ensure sanity. Participating in a multi-tiered on-call schedule. Ability to diagnose complex issues and propose solutions. Automating everything. Eager to contribute your ideas and experiences to help IRL continuously improve our product and company culture.

Skills

Understanding of Cloud native infrastructure design. Ability to read & write Cloudformation or Terraform templates. Deep experience with Bash and Python. Experience with Perl, Ruby, Go, etc is also acceptable. Deep experience with Docker and container orchestration tools like Elastic Beanstalk, ECS or EKS. Experience with alerting & monitoring tools like Datadog & Cloudwatch. Experience with Continuous Integration / Deployment pipelines. We use Buildkite but experience with other tools like CircleCI, Jenkins, etc. is acceptable. Knowledgeable in Linux administration. Experience with managed database services like RDS & Elasticsearch. Experience creating internal tools for developers. Experience in building and securing infrastructure. Understanding how to use VPC, Route53, ELB, IAM.

Qualifications

A Compute Science/Engineering Degree + 4 years Infrastructure experience OR 6+ years of Infrastructure experience
