Senior Software Engineer Payments at Stellar Health
About the position:
Stellar Health is looking for a Senior Engineer to join a new team focused on Payments!
Payments are core to Stellar’s business model and workflows – we motivate practices via monetary rewards for closing care gaps, and this team will own the associated data models and infrastructure. The Payments team will deliver an industry-leading payment experience leveraging technology built by our world class engineering team, vendor partnerships, and cutting edge platform team.
As a software engineer on the Payments team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the services and infrastructure that move money across Stellar’s platform. You will be deeply involved in the technical details of building highly available and reliable services, while also working cross-functionally to enable Stellar to rapidly build new capabilities for our end users.
This candidate will report to the Engineering Manager of our Payments team.
What you'll do:
- Help to scale our Payments Platform, used by the rest of the organization and a key strategic asset for Stellar Health’s continued growth.
- Build payments systems that reward clinical staff for their help in closing critical care gaps
- Write clear and concise production code for the Stellar Health Platform.
- Set consistent standards for code; testing and fixing bugs throughout the process.
- Work with our founding team to define product roadmaps, specifications, and priorities.
- Gather data insights and build models for product improvements or for internal use.
- Act as technical lead while delivering new technical initiatives.
- Provide effective and constructive feedback by reviewing others’ work.
- Mentor other engineers and help them develop in their career.
You should have:
- Python experience or experience with other backend languages (Java / C++ / Go / Ruby) and a desire to learn.
- A strong sense of accountability; you take pride in what you build and want it to be useful for others on your team
- Payments experience (or similar) is a plus
Who will love this job:
- You are excited about backend engineering; alongside an innate curiosity and a desire to be responsible for all aspects of reliably moving millions of dollars worth of payments in a small, highly focused team.
- You are enthusiastic about playing a pivotal role in getting accurate and timely payments to clinicians and practice staff for the high-value work they do.
- You love building platform-level solutions that unlock significant business value for other teams and customers.
- You thrive off of supporting your peers and teammates; no job is too small for you.
- You get things done and you love working in a dynamic environment; we move quickly and we need a teammate who will too.
- You understand, appreciate, and enjoy the responsibility and accountability that comes with being assigned high-level ownership over projects and their success.
- You have a knack for explaining technical processes concisely (even to non-engineers), and work well with cross-functional internal teams.
- You are looking to learn and grow, knowing that this position will involve a lot of ambiguity to deal with, with the support from the organization to help you navigate it.
