About the Team

The Risk & Insurance team at DoorDash is responsible for all things corporate insurance at the company. We are a rapidly growing and exciting function that helps DoorDash manage risk and safety with a close lens on the company's bottom line. The team is divided into three separate subgroups: Actuarial, Claims Operations and Risk Management & Mitigation. We are looking for forward thinkers that are excited to help build out this newly-formed team and match our ambitious cross functional partners at DoorDash.

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate Senior Actuarial Reserving Analyst who will be a member of DoorDash’s Corporate Risk & Insurance function within the Finance & Strategy team. As one of the newest members at Corporate Risk & Insurance, you’ll have the rare opportunity to improve our data capabilities, and seek data-driven insights to inform our insurance risk management decisions. This includes advising operational strategy and enabling optimal structuring of insurance programs.

  • Produce streamlined, cutting-edge tools and conduct quantitative analyses to inform operational strategy, enable optimal structuring of insurance programs, and assist risk management efforts
  • Use advanced statistics and modeling to understand data
  • Identify liabilities, risks, and trends
  • Build the next version of our Self-Service Platform, delivering analytics at scale
  • Provide reporting support for the Corporate Risk & Insurance Team
  • Compile data using internal and external data sources
  • Create ETL pipelines to streamline existing data reporting
  • Build and maintain data dictionaries and documentation for insurance analytics
  • Elevate skills and education in insurance analytics, recommended practices, technology, and connections with other Analytics leaders

We’re excited about you because you have…

  • Flexibility, resourcefulness, optimism, grit, and a growth mindset
  • Prior experience working with or for a gig or sharing economy company
  • 4+ years of experience in a quantitative or analytics role; insurance experience a plus 
  • Understanding of statistical analysis (e.g. hypothesis testing, experimentation, regression) and familiarity with statistical packages
  • Experience managing relationships with partners, and working with all levels of an organization
  • Advanced visualization skills using Tableau, and ability to tell a compelling story with data
  • Comfort working with Excel (or Google Sheets), SQL, and R (or Python)
  • Completed at least 3 actuarial exams
  • Experience working with survey data, text analytics, and other forms of unstructured data a plus
  • Experience working with commercial auto insurance in a reserving and/or pricing capacity a plus

Pursuant to the Colorado Fair Pay Act, the base salary range in Colorado for this position is $91,800 - $124,200, plus opportunities for equity and commission. Compensation in other geographies may vary.
