Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Ramp Attendant/Cargo Handler Job Functions include but are not limited to:
- Marshall aircraft during arrival and departure
- Coning and chocking of restricted areas around the aircraft
- Headset communication to aircraft cockpit as authorized, trained and certified to do
- Inspect ramp areas adjacent to gate and aircraft for debris/FOD and remove/dispose of when found
- Unload wheelchairs and child strollers and deliver to designated location
- Service aircraft water and lavatories
- Collect and load mail, live animals, wheelchairs and child strollers onto aircraft
- Assists both inbound and outbound passengers by physically transporting them throughout the airport facilities with the use of company assigned wheelchairs as per training received, policies and procedures.
- Lift on Lift off of wheelchair passengers on to aircraft and off aircraft
- Unload, offload and deliver passenger luggage and air cargo, bulk and/or containers/pallets, onto carts and/or dollies, aircraft holds.
- Handling and warehousing of cargo packages by lifting, stacking, sorting, stocking and removing from warehouse racks and shelves.
- Provide special handling of luggage/cargo as required/directed e.g. fragile items, heavy items, etc.
- Prepare and palletize cargo as needed
- Make sure paperwork related to the cargo is correct
- Follow Dangerous Goods Requirements and Regulations
- CXC O’Level Passes including Math and English
- Valid Driver’s License
- Willingness to work in inclement weather
- Flexible to work on various shifts (days, evening, nights, weekends, and holidays)
- Ability to read, write and understand and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, policies, procedures and manuals.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
