Join Kota as a Senior Software Engineer - Backend (.NET )

Are you passionate about building robust backend systems that directly improve customer and operational experiences? Here is an opportunity for direct impact in a category pioneering startup. Kota is seeking a Senior Engineer to support and scale our products, and benefit & financial products and operations. You will be joining Kota as a part of the core team for our B2B product. You'll collaborate across technical and non-technical teams, developing impactful products for our customers.

This is a full-time, remote 🌎 role where you'll play a pivotal part in driving our mission forward. We're eager to bring the right person on board and are flexible on the start date. What You'll Do

Being a part of our core team, you will be responsible to

  • Drive innovation: Build and enhance products to scale Kota’s benefit and financial operations.
  • Collaborate for impact: Work closely with teams across Kota to refine procedures, ensuring excellent customer experiences and operational efficiency.
  • Own incident management: Serve as an incident responder for technical issues, fostering a blameless culture of learning and iterating for improvement.
  • Architect for the future: Research, design, and implement enhancements that strengthen our product and processes.

A glimpse into your week might include:

  • Architecting and building new features, for our customer facing web and mobile application, and finance and benefit systems.
  • Transforming inefficient internal workflows into self-service features that delight customers and save time.
  • Leading technical efforts to resolve customer-reported issues as part of the incident response team.



What We're Looking For

  • Experience: 6+ years in building backend systems with expertise in:
  • .NET (we use latest dotnet 6-9)
  • SQL databases
  • ORM frameworks
  • Automated test frameworks
  • Azure/AWS experience
  • Industry knowledge: Experience in fintech, payroll, or benefits is a plus.
  • Problem-solving mindset: You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy solving complex challenges.
  • Education: A degree in Computer Science (or equivalent), bootcamp graduation, or proven self-taught experience.
  • Availability: At least 4 hours of overlap with GMT working hours.

Our Hiring Process

  • Introductory Call (45 minutes): Meet one or two members of our product team to learn more about Kota and the role.
  • Technical Interview (60 minutes): A collaborative and open-book session with two of our engineers.
  • Call with Founders (60 minutes): We are a small (25 person) but growing team and we would want share our vision with you and hear your thoughts.
