Backend Engineer at Exponent

Exponent is a new DeFi protocol launching soon on Solana. Our team has years of experience working in Solana for teams like Squads, Kamino, Raydium and more. We are backed by top investors and angels in the space. At Exponent you will have the opportunity to build with us the first yield trading exchange on Solana. Through Exponent, users can speculate on yields across Solana DeFi (interest rates, rewards, airdrops), hedge them, or reduce their volatility. We deeply believe Solana is the best blockchain infrastructure for financial products and care about making it the richest on-chain economy for its participants. Your Role As an early-stage startup, we are seeking engineers who can iterate and ship quickly as well as have a high degree of ownership and agency. In this role you will:

• Design, implement, and maintain reliable backend services and APIs to power our suite of DeFi products
• Develop, test, and ship new backend features that support our protocol (such as historical charts, transaction history, position performance, etc)
• Manage and optimize our databases
• Work closely with our frontend and product teams to deliver high quality user experiences

Requirements Although we don’t look for exact minimum years of experience, we expect you to have some existing qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Backend Engineer or similar role
• Proficiency in web API design and development
• Strong knowledge of database technologies such as PostgreSQL, including database design, optimization, and query tuning
• Proficiency in back-end languages. We use Typescript, Python, and Rust
• Experience working with cloud infrastructure, preferably Google Cloud. GCP is our Cloud service provider of choice
• Passion for decentralized finance

Strong plus

• Experience working with blockchain technology like Solana
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (Docker, CI/CD, performance monitoring)
