Who is Risk Labs? Risk Labs is the foundation and core team whose mandate is to build and grow the UMA and Across protocol ecosystems.

What is UMA? UMA's optimistic oracle (OO) can record any verifiable truth or data onto a blockchain. UMA Purpose: UMA is the canonical source of truth that blockchains use to verify real world data. UMA Vision: UMA enables any verifiable truth to be recorded on-chain, trustlessly.

What is Across? Across is a cross-chain bridge for L2s and rollups secured by UMA’s OO. Across' purpose: Across is to fulfill crypto’s potential by making blockchains more usable, more accessible and more efficient. Across’ Vision: Intents are the standard in x-chain interoperability, and are settled by Across.

Where do you fit in? We’re looking for a Head of Marketing to play a pivotal role in driving the success of UMA and Across. You will lead and coach a team of 4+ talented marketing managers, while overseeing all aspects of the marketing team. With your visionary leadership, in-depth marketing expertise, and deep understanding of the crypto industry, you will craft data-driven strategies to strengthen protocol adoption, grow brand awareness, and expand our users, followers, and token holders. We value the function of marketing, and also appreciate that it is hard and unique in crypto. We need someone to think strategically, but also be willing to get their hands dirty, and truly bring world class marketing efforts to make these deeply complex protocols known, loved, and adopted by the masses.

Responsibilities

  • Alignment: Structure OKRs/KPIs for individual and team success that align the marketing org with leadership, product, and sales
  • Strategy creation: Craft and develop a comprehensive marketing playbook that guides each brand and product on how to execute flawlessly on a comprehensive strategy, adaptable for their unique product, market positioning, and users.
  • Build systems for efficient execution: Work with your team, as well as cross departmentally (product, sales, ops), to deliver on your strategies, campaigns, and playbooks in a detail oriented, time conscious, and competitive manner that drives results. Building the systems and processes along the way to most effectively execute.
  • Data driven decision making: Analyze market trends, competitor activities, user behaviors, and community involvement to inform and optimize the marketing playbook.
  • Leadership & collaboration: Lead, coach, and support a team of top tier marketing and community managers. You should foster a tight and collaborative relationship with sales and product to ensure aligned efforts and foster success for each other.
  • Budget management: Propose and own a marketing budget, including the strategic rationale for events, campaigns, and other resources. Delivering data driven reports on the ROI regularly.
  • Community and marketing advocacy: Be the advocate for community and marketing efforts on a product and organizational level. We want to grow a world class marketing and community team, help us deliver.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of executive or leadership level marketing experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a crypto (DeFi preferably), or very related industry
  • Ability to use your technical knowledge and deep understanding to collaborate with the technical product and sales team, and convey complex concepts to any audience
  • Deep understanding of industry standard tools/tactics: Twitter, Discord, governance forums, IRL events
  • High EQ and proven leadership abilities: lead in a way that internally and externally fosters a culture of kindness and industry ethos alignment, while also having high standards for excellence.
  • Excellent written and verbal English required
