Packaging Design and Labeling Specialist at Clean Simple Eats
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Packaging Design and Labeling Specialist to join our team. As the CSE Packaging Design and Labeling Specialist, you will be responsible for creating new and maintaining existing product packaging designs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards for all product labels. The ideal candidate will have exceptional design skills and experience in the supplement space. They will work closely with cross-functional teams including marketing, product development, regulatory and quality assurance to ensure accuracy and consistency in packaging and labeling across all product lines, to meet marketing objectives, legal requirements, and product specifications. This position reports to the Product Manager, and requires the submission of a resume and portfolio.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Stay abreast of current regulations and guidelines related to product labeling, including FDA requirements, and ensure all labels meet or exceed regulatory standards.
- Conduct thorough reviews of all existing label artwork, content, and specifications to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with requirements, and implement necessary packaging and branding updates across existing SKUs (packaging design, icons, SFP/NFP, ingredient information).
- Work closely with Product Development and Marketing Graphic Design teams to develop new packaging designs, color stories, artwork and icons that effectively communicate product information, ensure cohesiveness in branding and product lines, and meet compliance requirements.
- Maintain detailed documentation and filing organizational structure of labeling specifications, changes and different versions of packaging and approvals, in accordance with company procedures and regulatory standards.
- Identify opportunities for improvements in labeling processes, systems, and workflows to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Ensure all packaging designs comply with relevant health and safety regulations, labeling requirements, best practices, and environmental standards, and provide training and support to internal stakeholders as needed
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitor packaging, and consumer preferences to ensure designs are contemporary and competitive.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience (3-5 years) in packaging design and labeling, with a focus on regulatory affairs and quality assurance within the supplement, pharmaceutical, or consumer goods industries.
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field (or 5+ years equivalent work experience) preferred.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for product labeling, including FDA regulations, preferred
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator, as well as Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Solid understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout techniques.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability and willingness to collaborate cross-functionally and clearly present and justify design decisions to internal stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering polished, error-free designs, with the ability to review and analyze complex information accurately.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Salary: $65,000-75,000 DOE
