Data Engineer at PlayVS

PlayVS is the leading amateur esports platform in North America. We are the single community where players come together to compete, fans gather to spectate, and coaches manage their programs. We are currently seeking employees for the following open position in Los Angeles, CA. 

Job Duties:  Work with the Data, Product, Operations, and Executive teams to extract value from data and support their data infrastructure needs. Build and maintain our data infrastructure foundational to our amateur esports ecosystem. Design, build and maintain your vision of an optimal data pipeline architecture. Deploy data models that synergize data democratization and business operations. Orchestrate the unity between our product data and external data sources, destinations, and APIs. Manage the quality and consistency of our data. Execute ETL design, implementation, and maintenance. Conduct API integrations. Transform raw data into tangible insights through data visualization using Metabase. Set up CI/CD pipelines. Infrastructure and managing the quality and consistency of our data. Implement industry standard practices for data security. Be the data life force of our company, continually improving the stages of our data. *Telecommuting Permitted*

Specials Skills: Must possess expertise/knowledge sufficient to adequately perform the duties of the job being offered. Expertise/knowledge may be gained through employment experience or education. Such expertise/knowledge cannot be “quantified” by “time.” Required expertise/knowledge includes: Experience with SQL and Python scripting; Experience with data warehousing, data pipelining, and data modeling (dbt); Ability to execute on ETL design, implementation, and maintenance; Experience with version control (GIT); Experience with API integrations; Experience with containerization & deployment management using Docker and Kubernetes; Ability to transform raw data into tangible insights through data visualization.

Education/Experience: Master’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Engineering, or closely related field plus two (2) years of relevant experience in job offered or in closely related occupation.
