Senior UX Content Designer at Ladder

About Us

We saw a problem within the life insurance industry: getting covered took too long, involved too much paperwork, and required too many in-person meetings with salesy agents. Having lost his father at a young age, our CEO, Jamie, was determined to make it easier for people to get the coverage they needed to provide for their families. So, we got to work. We developed a method of real-time underwriting and, in doing so, reduced the months-long process of applying for life insurance to minutes. Our digital experience is quick (instant decisions!), loved by users (check out our Trustpilot or Google reviews) and prolific ($74 billion+ in coverage provided).

About the Role

The UX Content Design team balances the user, business, and brand using clear, approachable language to create experiences that put our users first and help make an intimidating topic refreshingly simple. Reporting to the Content Design Manager, this role offers an outstanding opportunity to work on projects from the ground up with cross-functional partners in Design, Engineering, Data Analytics, Product, Compliance and Marketing who value content design and UX writing.  A portfolio is required and must be submitted with a resume.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a historically complex topic to feel human, accessible and fresh with language that brings our brand to life down to the smallest microcopy
  • Shape the future of Ladder by providing high-level strategy for high-impact experiences such as home page, information architecture, navigation, email, and mobile app
  • Influence product development from ideation to wireframing, launching features, and iterating on versions based on data
  • Validate concepts through user testing
  • Identify opportunities to A/B test when appropriate; launch and learn from minimal viable products (MVPs)
  • Ensure consistency across all user touch points: emails, notifications, direct mail, CTAs and labels, navigational elements, confirmation pages
  • Proactively share and collaborate with fellow writers to educate and ensure consistency in voice, tone, and process
  • Create product narratives and content frameworks; provide rationale for your recommendations
  • Collaborate and build relationships cross-functionally with opportunities to align and amplify efforts with teams and stakeholders
  • Maintain and evolve our voice and tone guidelines

Requirements

  • 5+ years UX writing/Content Design/Content Strategy experience at a leading consumer technology company
  • A strong portfolio highlighting your process of solving user problems from concept through execution and iteration required
  • Extensive experience leading projects and process
  • Exceptional listening, writing and presentation skills which are succinct, clear and engaging
  • Proven history of championing content strategy as the backbone of interconnected digital experiences
  • Ability to think through onboarding and transactional flows, confirmation screens, error messaging and CTA copy while looking for ways to say more with less
  • Inclusive and collaborative style, knowing when to involve cross-functional partners
  • Commitment to continuous learning, iteration, and user-centered experiences
  • Comfortable challenging your own assumptions and the assumptions of others
