The Role:

This is an incredible opportunity to run and help scale our email newsletters. The primary focus will be on The Futurist (https://getthefuturist.com)—a curated email with inspiring news stories to feed our readers’ curiosity about science, technology, and alternative pop culture. You'll be responsible for managing the content production, delivery, subscriber growth, and overall performance of the 6x/week newsletter, which boasts over 850k subscribers. You’ll also be supporting other revenue streams including EDU marketing emails, SMS, and webpush. 

What You'll Do:

  • Newsletter Management: Own performance, growth and monetization for the Futurist newsletter and potentially additional newsletters
  • Content Creation: Spearhead the content, optimization, and overall direction of the newsletter, with a focus on creating impactful and newsworthy commerce-focused content readers will love
  • Affiliate Marketing: Manage the media content calendar, leading the daily sourcing and production of paid content while ensuring consistency in brand messaging, optimizing engagement, and achieving strategic goals for a variety of different advertisers 
  • Drive Revenue: Create new streams of revenue within our newsletter program
  • Drive Subscriber Growth: Increase number of users subscribed to The Futurist through focused strategic initiatives, including partner sweepstakes and milestone referral programs
  • Data & Analytics: Employ A/B tests for continuous improvement, monitor campaign performance to drive optimizations, and ensure revenue goals are met 
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure emails are formatted properly, grammatically correct, and delivered on time
  • Compliance & Best Practices: Stay up-to-date on email marketing regulations, ensuring all campaigns are compliant and reflect industry best practices
  • Additional Activities: Support in the management of additional channels like our EDU newsletter, SMS, and webpush

What You'll Bring:

  • 2+ years of experience in email marketing, preferably within the e-commerce sector
  • Experience with email compliance, segmentation, deliverability, and best practices
  • Proven track record in successfully creating impactful consumer content
  • A growth mindset. You’re highly motivated and have ideas on how to drive revenue and subscribers.
  • Creative problem solving with exceptional project management and performance analysis to help inform optimizations
  • Strong communication, time management, organizational, and follow-up skills
  • Heavy attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team 
  • Flexible and adaptable attitude. You enjoy the fluid nature of startup life and all that comes with it.

What to Expect:

  • Intro Call: You’ll hop on a quick call with the hiring manager so we can get to know you better — and you can learn a little more about the role. 
  • Remote-Team Interview: You’ll be meeting with 2-3 team members on a video call. This is your chance to ask questions and see who this role interacts with on a daily basis.
  • Final Video Call: This is a great opportunity to get to know one of our senior executives over video.

Compensation:

Our overall compensation and rewards package includes base pay, bonus or commission, and a variety of benefits. Base pay is determined within a range that allows you the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.  The anticipated annualized salary range for this role is $75,000 - $85,000 (this range may be modified in the future based on changing market conditions).  Your initial base pay will be determined based on several factors, including demonstrated skills, relevant education or training, experience, qualifications, travel requirements, and job location.
