YOUR ROLE:

We're looking for a product designer to support our innovative, multi-cloud governance solution. As a product designer, you'll be involved in every step of the product design process, from ideation to implementation.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Define and refine the user experience of the Kion application
  • Take projects through the entire design process from concept to high fidelity.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to understand a project's requirements and technical constraints.
  • Research and advocate for product design best practices.
  • Develop a firm grasp on Kion product areas and regularly spend time learning about the cloud management space.
  • Work alongside product managers, developers, designers, and writers to understand user needs and help solve complex problems.
  • Working across departments to coordinate user research initiatives.
  • Use Pendo to gain quantitative insights about user behavior.
  • Design surveys, customer feedback sessions, and customer interviews.
  • Meet with customers to do discovery, understand their use cases, and get feedback on designs.
  • Rapidly ideate and produce multiple UX/UI concepts.
  • Work within our existing design system and help to evolve it when necessary.
  • Do design crits with the product design team

WHAT WE ARE EXPECTING FROM YOU (I.E., THE QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE):

  • 4+ years of relevant experience designing and shipping digital products. Outstanding candidates will have experience working on enterprise software.
  • A diverse portfolio that showcases:
    • Demonstrated understanding of usability principles.
    • Strong visual design skills (layout, visual hierarchy, color, type).
    • Understanding of information architecture best practices.
    • Interaction design examples.
    • Clean and balanced aesthetic.
  • Experience taking projects through the entire design process, from the discovery phase to low-fidelity, and wireframes to high-fidelity mockups and working prototypes.
  • Skilled in design tools such as Figma (preferred), Sketch, Axure, etc.
  • Understanding of design system best practices.
  • Understanding basic HTML and CSS principles (so you can effectively communicate design specifications and collaborate with developers to implement designs).
  • Experience with developer handoff and post-implementation design validation.

  • Experience in the financial, security, and/or compliance space.
  • Experience with user research and testing methodologies/best practices.
  • Experience with UX writing.
  • Bachelor's degree in design, HCI, or a related discipline.
