SCRUM Master at Cardano Foundation

The Cardano Foundation is an independent, Swiss-based not-for-profit organization. The Foundation is tasked with advancing the public digital infrastructure Cardano and works to anchor it as a utility for financial and social systems, thus empowering the digital architects of the future.

The Foundation facilitates the worldwide advancement of Cardano in enterprise applications. It develops infrastructure tooling—including where there may not be an immediate commercial use case—plus strengthens operational resilience, and drives diversity of on-infrastructure use cases as well as the development of sound and representative governance.

Another significant part of the Cardano Foundation’s mission is to engage with and support the Cardano community. The Foundation assists the development of tools the community can use to leverage Cardano to solve problems in new ways.

To further strengthen our Project Management Department, we are looking to hire a Scrum Master to be responsible for facilitating and co-ordinating the agile delivery across the Cardano Foundation. In this role, you will be part of a versatile and dynamic team, providing cross functional support to various stakeholders within the Cardano Foundation. 

• Leading Scrum ceremonies, including planning, retrospectives, daily stand-up meetings, continuous improvements, product backlog refinement and management. Ensure that these meetings are effective, time-boxed, and encourage active participation from all team members.

• Identify and eliminate obstacles that hinder the team's progress. This may involve stakeholder coordination, resolving conflicts or providing necessary resources.

• Serves as a coach and mentor to the team, guiding the team on Agile practices, Scrum principles, and continuous improvement. 

• Work closely with the Product Owner to prioritise the product backlog, ensuring that it is well-groomed and ready for the upcoming sprints. Help the Product Owner in refining user stories and setting clear acceptance criteria.

• Metrics and Reporting: Implement, gather and analyse performance metrics and reporting data to track the progress of agile teams.

• Establish and implement metrics to optimise delivery and measure business agility. 

• Conduct assessments of team agile maturity and implement improvements.

• Support the team in implementing best practices for optimal results. 

• Encourage a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

• 3-5 years of experience of running scrum teams.

• Provide training, mentoring and coaching to individuals to enhance their Agile capability. This includes effective knowledge sharing practices.

• Work with agile leaders on scaled agile transformation. 

• Ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve their goals and deliver high-quality products.

• Significant understanding of Agile principles and the Scrum framework, Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or other relevant agile certifications (SAFe Agilist, SAFe Scrum Master, etc.) are preferred.

• Deep expertise in Agile principles and frameworks(Recognised Agile certification).

• Expertise in Agile delivery methods including Scrum, Kanban and Scaled Agile Framework.

• Proficient with collaboration tools including Atlassian Jira and Confluence, and G-suite.

• Good communication (both verbal and written) and stakeholder management skills.

• Able to manage, motivate and maintain focus and team towards delivery.

• Ability to negotiate, influence and hold team members accountable.

• Bachelor’s degree in technology or another relevant field.

• Blockchain passion; you listen to podcasts/watch videos. You keep up with the field as something that inspires you.

• Blockchain expertise; you understand and can articulate complex blockchain concepts (DeFi, Staking, UTXO model, DAOs). You know most major chains and their differences.
