The Role:

Working on our Blockchain we're looking for an accomplished SRE to handle all things infrastructure.  Reporting directly to the Director of Product & Software, your main responsibilities will be;

  • Create and set up processes and systems to support the servers, storage, and networking of our Cosmos‑based validator network; the CUDOS Network.
  • Handle operations for in‑house run validator environments on co‑located and hosted hardware, as well as on cloud instances.
  • Handle operations for the supporting servers and software that provide value‑add network features.
  • Liaise with and instruct third-party data‑centre support and remote-hands engineers.
  • Support the CUDOS Network validator operator partners with their set‑up and troubleshooting activities.
  • Assist service team support engineers in resolving validator partner and user incidents.
  • Actively work to maximise availability and performance of the CUDOS Network.
  • Assist product and software with the design and planning of network upgrades.
  • Adopt and advocate Cudo's company vision, always considering our ethics and environmental stances.
  • Fervently extol and support advancement of decentralised initiatives that bring user benefit.
  • Achieve or exceed your department's and your individual KPIs in line with OKRs.

Additionally you'll be responsible for:

 

Infrequently attending in‑person Cudo's co‑location data‑centre or lab site facilities to perform hardware installations or maintenance (located in Bournemouth).

Participating in the CUDOS Network chat communities, helping out other operators and getting feedback.

Working together with product managers to guide future planning of our software.

Working together with software engineers to guide detailed design of our software.

Participating in the QA process by testing new versions of our software.

Keeping current with the Cosmos ecosystem and related technologies.

Keeping abreast of developments in the world of cryptocurrencies and decentralised platforms.

 

 What you’ll bring with you:

Service and application monitoring and reporting expertise.

Strong scripting and automation skills.

Familiarity setting up and using CI/CD systems.

Working knowledge of peer‑to‑peer networking internals and security.

Working knowledge of network and storage high‑availability on Linux.

Proven server‑operations experience specific to blockchain.

Significant server‑operations experience in any XaaS‑type environment.

The following will give you bonus points!

A variety of exposure to multiple Linux/BSD‑based systems administration; particularly Debian‑based and RedHat‑based servers.

Familiarity working with Docker and related technologies.

Competent with performance profiling in high transaction volume environments, particularly high network packets‑per‑second and high storage IOPS scenarios.

Awareness of product‑management principles and product‑led strategy.

Located in the UK (for occasional visits to the lab)
